Isaiah 58:12 ~~ “Those from among you will rebuild the ancient ruins; [they] will raise up the age-old foundations; and [they] will be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of the streets in which to dwell.”

Down by theriverside

Grateful for all the parks near where I live

Going to the river on a summer morning

Better still when there is a friend sitting next to you on the bench

Quiet conversation. Keen insights. Deep thoughts!

Watching my body as it tenses and relaxes.

The water rushes by murmuring as it goes

The breeze that blows softly but does not interupt

The ducks, impossible that they are not swept away. They compensate  for the water’s movement efficiently  beneath the surface.

The geese are lovely but they demand rather than ask

The sound of laughter as kayakers come into view and then disappear downstream

Relaxing morning that lingers with me all day long.

Jane First

I awake and my mind boots up as I begin to plan my day. What must I do? What do I desire? Where must I be and when?

Wait a minute!

My brain pulls me back 41 years ago when I was 20 and looking at motherhood that very day. Was grateful that day when labor was over and my daughter was placed in my arms.

Oh the mistakes I would make with her in the next 20 years. She shaped me and I marveled at her spirit.

Its  21 years later and I’m still amazed at her strength.

I smile because I recognize her organizational prowess.

Her greatest gift to me was my grandson. I love to hear stories about him.

Thank goodness for Facebook which gives me glances into their lives.

Happy Birthday Jane!

Now I can organize my day!
