About Karen Teig

I am a 58 year old Native Minnesotan. I work as a Storekeeper at a local hospital here in town. I have been sober since April 18, 1982 and have not smoked since September 8, 2005. I am a Born Again Christian who loves Jesus and am grateful for each day I wake up. I have found that even in the hard times, like after my husband's suicide that I can still find things to be grateful for, even if they are little things. God always has my back.

  • Listening to sound of the rain hit my roof over my porch is calming.

A GREAT WEEK

Sunday 9/10  Church, football, food and good conversation with my son, brother & niece. Important meeting at church at the end of the day.

Monday 9/11  A quiet day at home.  My phone went completely dead.  I am embarrassed at how I depend on that darned thing.  I really was more concerned about  not having something in the event of an emergency.  I am grateful I had my Chromebook to contact the people I needed to.

Tuesday 9/12  Quiet but my son came out with my brother’s extra phone for me to use in case of emergency.  Just for 911 but that was fine.  I don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.  Grateful he was able to get me an extra phone.

Wednesday 9/13  I went and bought a new phone, got a great deal and was up and running again.  Bible study to end the day and it was wonderful as always.

Thursday 9/14  More football with my son, niece and brother’s friend at my brothers.  Good food and conversation.

Friday 9/15  Pay day and a picnic at work. Got to see my coworkers and managers.

Saturday 9/16  My High School 40th Reunion. I had a great time!  I had never been to any of my reunions before and it was nice to reconnect.  I have lots of classmates on Facebook.  It is better than nothing, but not the same. :)

Sunday 9/17  Church in the morning.  It was a great service as always.

LIfe Is Good

  • My 40th High School Reunion is tonight!  I have never gone to any over the years, so this should be great fun. :)
  • My phone went completely dead so I had to buy a new one.  I lucked out on a good purchase price and a cheaper monthly price ;)
  • I got to see a bit of the Inline Skating Marathon this morning.
  • Enjoying a good animal program.
  • Doing my Bible plan and prayer and meditation.  I use YouVersion app and it is awesome!
  • I can relax and do my blogging in the comfort of a cool home while in my shorts and t-shirt.
  • GOD…thank you for another day.

What A Ride

This past 12 months has been quite the ride to say the least.

Some stuff I am grateful for, some not.

  • October 1 of last year my son moved back from the Twin Cities.  He lives across the bridge in another state but still much closer than he was.
  • Last November 1 I had to put my cat to sleep.  I miss him.  The upside, if you  can find it, is I have more freedom now…..but I still miss him.  I believe he was with me for the time he was needed and very much loved.  Grateful to have had him for 7 years.
  • January rolled around and I finally had to make the decision to get a total hip replacement.  The end of January I saw my ortho doc and scheduled it for March 6.  But wait….there is more.  Because I had so many loose teeth and that my mouth could end up infected, I had to put my surgery off.  Any infection from my mouth could send and infection to my new hip.
  • I started the process to get 13 teeth pulled and upper dentures made.  April 24 I had a new set of upper dentures and was cleared to get my surgery.
  • July 11 I had a total hip replacement and was sent home the next day.  I have been off since then and will go back to work October 9.
  • GOD has been with me all the way through and so many friends and my family.
  • Everything I have gone through, I keep telling myself how blessed I am.  There are people I pray for everyday that are not so blessed.  Grateful to be able to pray for these people.
