1.  Grateful that the hurricane didn’t do more damage, but so very sorry for all the damage it caused and is causing.

2.  The loss of life is so sad — we might not have known all of them, but our hearts go out to their families, friends, and neighbors.

3.  I am grateful to live in Ohio, which was spared.

4.  There are so many mysteries in life, and the weather is certainly one of them.

5.  I am grateful that so many people pitch in to help each other.

6.  It is strange to have such immediate coverage on TV, but I am grateful to see the places I’ve been and that they will be O.K.

7.  Brattleboro, Vermont is one of my favorite towns ever, and it is having a rough time right now — right by the river, with flooding.

8.  I was grateful to talk to my friend Katie, who lives in Brattleboro, to find out that things are getting better there.

9.  I am so grateful that New York City did not get hit as hard as originally thought.
