Due to a storm, we haven’t had power for 3 days. This makes me appreciative for the following:

1. No power, means no electronics. We’ve spent more quality time with our family as result.

2. I’ve had a chance to stop and appreciate what having electricity means for us. The ability to see in the dark, heat our homes and store our food are at the top. Power of course allows us to use so many other appliances and devices that we rely on every day.

3. I’m thankful this outage did not take place in the middle of winter when it’s much colder outside.

4. Due to the storm and outages I’ve had a chance to connect with many of my neighbors whom I might not have spoken to otherwise. We’re all in the same boat right now.

5. I’m grateful knowing that it’s just a matter of time before the power comes back on. This unfortunately is not the case everywhere in the world right now. I’m also grateful for the hydro crews that are working tirelessly to make this happen!

It’s been a while

I haven’t stopped to appreciate the wonderful things in life for a long time and I notice the difference in my thoughts, which have been less positive lately. This is my first post here in over 2 years.

Today’s list:

  • Family. So happy to have my wife and kids. They are my world. I’m so happy to have my parents, brother and sister and my nieces. I’m also grateful for having my aunt and uncles. I’m truly blessed to have these wonderful people in my life. I’m looking forward to seeing all of them for Easter this weekend.
  • Spring is upon us! It’s wonderful to experience longer days so to speak and to go for walks without having to bundle up too much.
  • We’re having some structural repairs made to our house this week. I’ve wanted to get them done for years. I’m grateful to have the means to do so and to have someone I trust doing the work.
  • I’m grateful our car has lasted 14 years and counting. It’s wonderful that we’ve been able to count on it for so long.
  • I’m grateful for the community we live in. There are so many wonderful people here. I’m especially grateful for the volunteers at our local pool. They do a great job ensuring the community has a place to enjoy each other’s company through fun activities, swim lessons and sports programs.
  • I’m thankful for having found a hobby I truly enjoy. It allows me to work with my hands and to enjoy my own company with music from time to time.
  • I’m truly happy for a new organization I joined last year. So many great people there and I’m learning a lot from them.
  • I’m grateful for my job and the new opportunity that presented itself recently. It helps make it more interesting and challenging.
  • I’m very grateful for the people I work with. All are kind and when we disagree with each other it’s done with respect.
  • I’m especially grateful for how well my boss treats me. It makes a difference in your life when you have someone in a leadership role that supports you.

That is all for today. This was refreshing :)

7. Going to get my car fixed this week. Can’t wait.

8. Got the kids to the bus stop on time today without too much rushing.

11. I’m very happy yo hear that the number of daily Covid cases has dropped here in Quebec.

Have a great day!

It’s a beautiful time

Sitting here by the fire on a Monday morning. I’m grateful for the fire, looks beautiful and keeps me warm.

As Mary and Jean said it’s getting colder outside. I’ve never appreciated the fall season and its beautiful colours as much as I have this year. They are a priceless gift.

I go for walks several evenings a week. They help me relax. I’m so happy to have had a walking partner for the last few months. Joe is full of great conversations. I think I learn something everytime we go out.

I’m starting a new job in a week. So glad to have this time off in between jobs. I’m grateful for the new opportunity. The people, including my new boss, are all so nice! I’m really excited to work with them and help make the lives of our customers better and better!

I’m grateful for the job that I previously had. There were many tough times but I learned a great deal from it. Regardless, it helped me provide for my family, which is the most important thing in the world. I also met a lot of fine people there.

I’m grateful for the class I’m taking and the program I’m enrolled into. It’s  going to help me in my career, will allow me to follow a path that really interests me and keep me employed.

Have a great day!

Good friends

We had to cancel our annual guys trip, which would have been this weekend, because of Covid. It would have been the 25th year of this fine tradition.

Instead, those of us that could still meet met up for the day. We had a wonderful time enjoying each other’s company and the beautiful weather. I’m thankful we got together. Hadn’t seen some of the guys since our Christmas party. It was nice to see everyone doing well.

I’m grateful that even though we don’t get to see each other often, we were able to pick up right where we left things off.

I’m already looking forward to seeing everyone again and I’m grateful that next year once life has returned to normal, we will be able to resume our tradition.

Have a good night!

Simply grateful

It’s been a long while since I’ve posted here. I hope everyone is doing well!

I’m so grateful for the following:

1. Good health and happiness! I’m also insanely grateful that my dad received some good test results. He’s been fighting cancer and has been responding to his treatments. Best news ever!

2. Due to the lockdown I get to see my wife and kids so much more now. I spend zero time travelling to and from work that I actually get to eat dinner with my family 7 days a week.

3. Happy for this summer weather! Summer is my favourite time of year!

4. Nice summer walks. Love them so much.!

5. It’s the weekend!!

6. Happy to have wonderful neighbors. They make being stuck at home easier even if we have to maintain our distances. Jusy seeing people and saying hi every day is great.

7. Happy I found an awesome new guitar teacher! He’s a really good teacher.

8. I’m very grateful to still have a job despite all the lockdowns. I’m also grateful that it challenges me a lot.

Loving life

Our city was covered in snow over the last 24 hours. I’m so grateful that my employer allows us to work from home. It allowed me to appreciate the weather and its beauty instead of getting frustrated that my commute into work is longer than normal. The kids’ school was canceled. They got to play with the neighborhood friends all day and evening. It was nice to see them have each other.

I’m very thankful that my wife and parents all made it home safely during the storm.

Over the last 2 days wonderful opportunities have fallen into my lap! I can’t stop thinking about them. They were both brought to my attention by people who care about me. It gives me hope and has provided a lot of excitement! Can’t wait to see them unfold.

Work is chaotic but I see the light at the end of tunnel!

Had dinner with wonderful friends yesterday. Thanking God for the wonderful people in my life.

February is going to be great!

Thankful for January

Everytime I pause giving gratitude I find I deal with life’s curve balls much less effectively. Glad I quickly thought of coming back and offering gratitude before too much time had passed.

1. Today I learned my dad will finally be starting his radiation treatment next week. I’m thankful it’s finally beginning so that he can have a chance to beat his cancer.

2. I stopped having alcohol for a little while. I wasn’t drinking too much before but I do feel good to completely abstain from it for now.

3. I’m grateful for good health and that of my wife and kids.

4. I’m really grateful that my daughter has her friends back. Last year she was being bullied a bit but that issue is gone. She has a great bunch of friends now thank God!

5. Today my boss drove me absolutely crazy. I let it bother me all evening. I’m glad that at least I realized it was getting to me more than normal and that I should come back to this site and post. It usually gets me out of my funk because I realize how much I have to be thankful for. That said, I’m grateful to have a good job that never stops challenging me.

6. I’m grateful to have rediscovered my interest in drawing. It gives me something to be excited about and something fun and challenging to do.

7. I gave a speech at my Toastmasters meeting this week. I’m glad for the opportunity to perform it. I’m thankful for getting constructive feedback from loving people who care about me and for winning best speech of the night! I’m especially happy that I have an amazing mentor coaching me and really helping me improve!

That’s it for now,

Have a great weekend!

Thankful for a good start to the year!

I’m grateful for the things I normally take for granted, but really shouldn’t. They are: Good health, overall happiness, family life which feels crazy at times but is still the best thing ever. I’m also very grateful for friendships including colleagues, close friends and old friends.

Last week I was asked to be in my good friend’s wedding party! That means a lot. I had never been asked before. It is a great honor to be asked.

My new job is going really well! I couldn’t be happier. The project they’ve given me is exactly what I wanted. I can’t believe how things worked out. Thanking God for this wonderful miracle. Oh and the people are all really nice and smart too! I feel like I’m part of something great!!! I still remember the day they contacted me to come in for an interview. They’ve been amazing from the start!

Thanks for these wonderful times!
