Visual Gratitude

  1. The blue glass bottles on a neighbor’s windowsill
  2. Watching raindrops fatten and fall from the porch overhang
  3. The bright red Cardinal and his more obscure lady friend who flirt in our back yard
  4. The neighbor who hangs her wash to dry on hangars on her back porch
  5. Hostas with leaves so green and plush you could lay in them
  6. Knowing where the sun shades the porch at different times of day
  7. Zucchini tomato avocado lemon thyme salad
  8. Writing gratitude lists with a baby in one arm
  9. Buzzing, busy flies darting off to important destinations
  10. Round cut logs stacked in a haphazard wood pile
  11. The buddhist way, “do no harm”
