Ramblings

I reread some of my old posts and it  was a delightful ramble down memory lane. Today I’m thinking about what has happened since I stopped posting regularly and what I have learned from it.

1. You are not the work you do but the work you do can be a conduit to express your need to give back. Don’t let something that is not central in your life become the center of your life. But work itself is cathartic.

2.Life DOES come at you fast and you can’t always duck.

3.The phone will ring and you’ll gasp. But you are strong and there is a well  of strength to draw from.

4.I think of my sister and how her life changed in a fall. She is wheelchair bound now. It makes me appreciate my mobility(though sometimes my knees ache), my stamina (though sometimes I am weary) but most of all my optimism which is unending.

5. My daughter has graduated and is living at home. It is a challenge because my tendency is to hover and hers to fly. My mantra is “It belongs to her”. May all her choices move her forward in a safe and straight path.

6.My neighbor provides us for enough material for a sit com but it’s not funny. So much drama -so much trauma! I am supremely grateful for a quiet life. Four burners on my personal stove and things peacefully cooking.Nothing boiling over!

7. My grand children are blossoming . They delight me. One is 16 the other is 5.

8. We are active at our Church because the Spirit is active in us.

9. I miss my aunt daily. Her wisdom and sense of humor. Her love of life. I was humbled that at her memorial service my friends said we thought the minister was describing you.

10. So many things have happened but it is history. Today is the present open yours and see what is in it.

  1. Mary Ellen, this is one of the most wonderful lists you’ve done (in my opinion). Powerful, eloquent, clear, positive and so very you!!! Love you!
