A time to laugh A time to cry

My life has been an emotional roller coaster in October. Ups and downs. Right side up and upside down. Inside out. But I survived.

But amid the total chaos there are glimmers of light. Yes I can laugh. Then I cry and it is cleansing.

I found my sister’s letters of what she wanted as her funeral time. I read them after I had made arrangements. For the most part I got it right.

I don’t believe she didn’t believe in God but I believe she was mad at Him for being in a wheelchair in a nursing home. He is a forgiving God!

I smiled at the part of the note that told me “You’ll do fine. You have faced harder things.” It was almost exactly what I told my sisters the day she died. Thank you for strength.

Grateful snafu at pharmacy got worked out. My medication is essential.

Staying at home last night instead of going to the Civic theater was hard but I can read my body when it says rest.

Picking up the cremains was tempered by talking with a young man who was picking up his daughter’s who died shortly after birth. My sister had 77 years.

Celebrate whatever season you are experiencing today.

  1. MaryEllen: Holding you in hugs of prayer and support from across the miles. SO glad that you are listening to the signals that your body gives you. I am grateful that young father saw you even for a little minute. My Dad says that “memories are God’s gift to us” and I pray that you will be comforted by the good memories with your sister.

  2. Hello Mary ellen
You are courageous and loving. I am sure your sister felt your love. In my mind, that is what truly matters to each of you. Prayers and blessings to you. Love rose

  3. My heart goes out to you Mary Ellen. I pray for you with the loss of your sister. You post about the young man who lost his baby after birth broke my heart. Yes, I know it happens but it is still heart breaking.
