  • Whew!  Accomplished a huge project!
  • Minimizing….sorting
  • Pleasant memories
  • Putting up our large canvas tent that we’ve had for 50 yrs….they made things to last back then :)
  • GPa’s Air Force duffle bag….did I say they made things to last back then ? :)
  • David and GPa lake fishing
  • GPa spent many years “rousing out” our family at 5a.m. to go fishing…
  • …now the roles are reversed…
  • …but always so enjoyable! :)
  • In Montana there are approximately 1900 lakes covering 400,000 acres.

  • HOORAY!
  • Winds and some rain blew in last night
  • 42 degrees this morning but warming up and summer is still here :)
  • Today we have blue skies, sunshine
  • and FRESH MOUNTAIN AIR!!
  • Grateful for each of these days :)

  • Wow, so much smoke and haze that we can’t see our surrounding mountains
  • Our Gov. has declared a Fire Emergency here in Montana…15 fires in MT and more in surrounding states
  • Grateful for our sil who flies the helicopters that carry the huge buckets of water over the fires
  • Love my long conversations with my extraordinary granddaughter…she teaches me so much
  • Renewed my driver’s license :)
  • David’s Apple Watch…nice! Almost like having your life on your wrist?
  • GSon Austin and his friend surprising us with a visit…great guys!
  • V.A. at Ft. Harrison this morning…. a WWII veteran…such a gentle man….when we thank him for his service we bow…
  • …as I looked around I realized the many stories they have…and we’re often blessed to hear about them.
  • One of the veterans had a shirt that said, “Freedom is Not Free”

Big Sky Country

  • Fly fishing yesterday with GPa, son, grandson…total happiness in their faces :)
  • Taking deep breaths and grateful for the fresh air
  • Fish jumping at the hatch over the water
  • Some catch ‘n release, others for savoring a Brook Trout dinner :)
  • Our choice of creeks for miles in the high country
  • Always loving the gorgeous views as we travel over MacDonald Pass
  • So many beautiful wildflowers…bitterroot, lavender and white daisies, Indian paint brush, and many more
  • Interesting cabins still standing from the “covered wagon days”
  • Cookie watching the chipmunks and running free through the grasses and trees
  • Beautiful horses all saddled up and ready for the back country
  • And, this morning, going to a lake which is less than 10 min. from our home and always in awe of the spectacular panoramic views which bring only the lingering best good thoughts to mind…
  • Yes, this is the Big Sky Country!

  • August 3, National Watermelon Day :)

  • Yesteryears all class reunion
  • Nathan did a good job mowing our lawn
  • Rootbeer floats
  • GPa injured his knee…took him to the ER at the V.A. 7:00 a.m.  Received great treatment as usual and 24 hrs. later doesn’t need crutches and is walking around just fine!  (Not signing up for Dancing with the Stars yet but doing well. LOL)
  • Peggy & Rick looking forward to a new stage in their lives…moving to AZ where they just bought a house.
  • GPa says when he was in the military……. rainbows were black and white…….. and the Dead Sea was still sick :)

  • A great rain soaker today…
  • Good day for reading next to the fireplace…
  • …and making a stew to make the house warm and cozy :)
  • How nice, Gene called, a friend from my high school days (who now lives in Idaho)…we discussed memories of the ole covered wagon days … welllll it seems like that long ago :):)

  • ….this morning it’s 56….cool and nice!
  • Cookie was completely calm during the booming fireworks

  • Meeting the nicest couple from New York who are visiting family here…they live 90 mi. north of NYC
  • Shadow, the black lab service dog, who loves to see GPa when he arrives at the vision impairment classes.
