About Karen Teig

I am a 58 year old Native Minnesotan. I work as a Storekeeper at a local hospital here in town. I have been sober since April 18, 1982 and have not smoked since September 8, 2005. I am a Born Again Christian who loves Jesus and am grateful for each day I wake up. Life is really what I make of it, with few exceptions. God always has a plan.

  • Last day off, but I will enjoy it.  Grateful for scheduled days off and Personal Holidays/Vacation to be taken.
  • God.  So grateful he woke me up this morning.
  • My son.  He was talking about moving out in a few months.  I think we are both ready but I know it will feel strange living in this house alone for the first time in 29 years.  Excited for his future and mine.
  • Jax and Skeeter.  They will be with me.
  • Maybe the kick in the pants I need to really start getting things done around this house?  Might take away some of the empty house syndrome when he leaves.  Staying busy and productive.  Not that I cannot do it now. ;)
  • Good coffee.  I don’t drink or smoke.  Coffee is my vice.
  • 18 degrees when I woke up.  Grateful for a working furnace.
  • Nice comforter to keep me warm in bed at night.
  • Realizing that the Bible is becoming one of my favorite books.  If you had told me it would be this way years ago, I would have through you were crazy.  Love it now.
  • Waking up sober and nicotine free.  Yesterday would have been 12 years and two months without a cigarette.  I remember wondering if I would make it through the first day.
  • LIfe.  I do not take it for granted that I can wake up each day.

  • God in my life.
  • My Bible study friends who have become like sisters to me.
  • I can turn my furnace down a bit and still be comfortable.  And God forbid I put on a hoodie.
  • That although I have not been to an A.A. meeting in awhile, I still have and read my Big Book which is like the Bible of A.A.  Looking for a meeting to go to tonight.
  • My family and friends.
  • My job.  Scary to think where I would be without it.
  • The beautiful Lake Superior, rain or shine.
  • Waking up sober and nicotine free another day.
  • Good Christian music to listen to while I wash the dishes.
  • Another day off.  This is 6 of 7.  Back to work on Saturday.
  • My dog and cat.  With so may dogs and cats missing in the Northland, I am grateful they are here with me and safe.
  • My new study Bible.  I am so happy I got it.  It was wonderful to have at Bible Study last night.
  • Another day God has so graciously given me.  Thanks be to God. <3

  • God loves me.
  • Football.  The last three years I have gotten into it more.
  • My Vikings.  They won yesterday.

  • Although it would have been 29 years ago on November 3 since my husband and I had our first date, I was able to enjoy the day and remember the good times.
  • Having weird dreams lately.  What could they mean?  Maybe something good in my future?
  • Day 3 of 7 off.  Loving it.
  • Staying sober and nicotine free another day.
  • Good Christian music to start my days.
  • A brand new study Bible I bought myself.  Now I can follow along better with my Bible study buddies.  I have a few Bibles but not like this one.
  • New googles, swim hat and ear plugs for swimming at the Fitness Center.  Now I just need to get my butt there. :)
  • My dog, Jax, is slowing down.  He does not spring out of bed like he used to and a couple days recently I had to call him several times standing by the bed to wake him up.  Grateful for all the years he has given us.  Just hoping for a little more.
  • Making good friends at church and being invited to things.  Nice feeling.
  • Life.  It really can be good.

  • Good coworkers.  We work so well together.
