About Karen Teig

I am a 58 year old Native Minnesotan. I work as a Storekeeper at a local hospital here in town. I have been sober since April 18, 1982 and have not smoked since September 8, 2005. I am a Born Again Christian who loves Jesus and am grateful for each day I wake up. Life is really what I make of it, with few exceptions. God always has a plan.

Enjoying watching old Perry Mason and Leave It To Beaver shows.

Watching my cat curl up in a box.

My dog sprawling out on our couch.

A conversation with a neighbor who has been gone for months.

A good cup of coffee.

A good stretch of the muscles.

Comfy pants.

Comfy chair to relax in on my day off.

A day to catch up on laundry….my bad I am behind.

Realizing things I can improve on in myself.

God.

Blessed

I have a roof over my head.

I have food in my belly.

I have a job to go to everyday.

I have family and friends.

I can keep going, even when things are hard.

  1.  Grateful for my wonderful church ladies.  It is nice to connect and meet other women and build friendships again.
  2.  Grateful for Jesus, my savior.
  3.  Grateful for being open minded and learning to step outside my comfort zone.
  4.  Grateful for my son.  He is a wonderful young man filled with wit,   intelligence and yes emotion.
  5.  Grateful to have employment, health insurance, vacation time, sick   time and a great group of women to work with.
  6.  Grateful for the beautiful day.
  7.  Grateful for staying sober and not smoking another day.  God really is good!
  8.  Grateful for the beautiful lilacs on the way to get my hair cut this   morning.
  9.  Grateful for my lady who cuts my hair.  She is retiring the end of June and she has been cutting my hair probably since my late teens.  She cut mine, my husband’s and my son’s hair over the years and also did my hair for my wedding day.  She is more a friend than a hair dresser.  I found out today that she and hubby are selling their house and going to renovate her beauty shop and live there, closer to down.
  10.  Grateful for a good cup of coffee.  Yes, it is sometimes the simple   things that bring us pleasure.
  11.  Grateful for a site that was sent to all our church members.  It is like   the Netflix for Christianity.  Good stuff.
  12. Grateful for another day above ground.  Thank you God. :) <3

Grateful for a nice lunch with the Starting Point Meeting.

Grateful for my pets, even when they drive me up the wall getting into things.

Grateful my son got home safe last night.

Grateful for the prayers from my friends when life gets hard.

Grateful to be able to pray for people also.

Grateful to have a roof over my head.

Grateful for not smoking or drinking another day.

Grateful for the beauty of Lake Superior.

Grateful that although I have a little pain today in my knee, at least can feel my knee. ;)

Grateful for a comfy chair and a lap top to type this in with ease.

Grateful for a good job I can go to, even when some days are rough.  At least I can pay my bills.  I have been on the other side when I could not.

Grateful for my Bible and the teachings from it in my church.

Grateful for an open mind and that I am slowly stepping outside my comfort zone on some things.  Baby steps.

Grateful for being able to slow my mind down when some days it goes a bit fast as I have too much on my mind.

Grateful for prayer and meditation which helps.

Grateful for this site where I can post my gratitude and read others posts.

Grateful for a new roof with the winds up off the lake today.  44 on the lake shore, not need for fan or air conditioning as it is 62 in my house.

Grateful for my sisters in God who are becoming more and more an important part of my life.  Grateful that I joined this church over 3 years ago and that one lady, in particular, thought I would fit in with their Bible study.

Grateful that I am becoming more of an extrovert in new situations and stepping outside my comfort zone.

Grateful for God in my life

Grateful for family, friends and my pets.

Grateful for having a job and health insurance, even though there are changes over the horizon that we might be switching health insurances at a high price.  I pray that does not happen.

Grateful for a roof over my head and a bed to crawl into at night.

Grateful for a peaceful day to get things done around the house, read my Bible and Big Book and perhaps watch a a movie.

Grateful that God has chosen to let me wake up for another day.

Busy but quick week…

  1. God has had my back this week.  Stressful and busy week between new roof being but on my house and just busy at work.
  2. Grateful for being able to get financing for things now and not worry.
  3. I can wake up on windy nights and not worry about pieces of my roof being found in mine and my neighbor’s yard.
  4.  Chimney needs repair.  It will not cost much more.
  5.  My Bible study friends.  I love them!
  6.  Nice weather mostly.  Only in Duluth can it drop 20 degrees in a matter of minutes though. ;)
  7.  My dog and cat.  Jax and Skeeter, I Love you.
  8.  My son.  Love him to the moon and back.
  9.  Being sober another day and not smoking.
  10.  My grief support group.  It only meets once a month and I had not been there for 2 months due to my knee pain and subsequent surgery. Nice to see the group again.
  11.  Three days off.  I work Memorial Day and this Monday is my comp  day off.
  12.  My knee doing well, a little stiff each morning and small amount of pain but only after a day of work.  I got cleared for working without restrictions this past Monday.
  13.  God.

God has me

Grateful for God having my back when…..

My roof does not get installed when it should due to weather, miscommunication, contractors not keeping me in the loop.

I catch my forefinger in the bedroom door and cut it as I am trying to keep my cat out of the bedroom at 4:30 in the morning. Followed by a headache after I finally get back to sleep and then get up for the day.

I am tired and worn out at work.

I want to chew some butt when I feel like contractors are being a pain in the butt.

I am grateful, truly, but I am also tired and physically sore today.  Funny thing is, my knee feels the best compared to my finger and head LOL.

Open to possibilities and grateful.

I was reading my On This Day on my Facebook account.  Talked about a conversation of dating again?  Maybe?  Grateful to be open to the possibility again.  In God’s time.

Grateful for the sunshine today.

Grateful my dog, Jax, ate sooner than later.  I worry.

Grateful for a good night’s sleep and waking up feeling a bit better than yesterday morning.

Grateful for Tylenol if needed. Knee a tad sore but very manageable.

Grateful to be able to go to church today.

Grateful for God’s grace in my life, even if I do not see it right away.

Grateful for being able to crawl out of bed and not be nervous going down stairs.

Grateful for good coffee.  Yes, I know it is a small thing but sometimes the small things are pretty cool.

Grateful to be getting things done as far as a new roof on the house. I get scared of having another bill again, but God will provide.  I just need to do the foot work. ;)

Grateful for my Bible and my Alcoholics Anonymous Big Book.

Grateful that even though a neighborhood church closed, that the congregation could merge with another church in town.  Grateful that the A.A. meeting that have been held there for decades also have a place to go.

Grateful that I have this site to post my gratitude on.  There are others, but I like this one the best.

One week down….and grateful.

Grateful I  made it through one week of work.  A little stiff, a tiny bit sore, and very tired.

Grateful for health insurance as the insurance statements start to come through.

Grateful for God in my corner as I move forward with fixing and/or replacement of things breaking down in my house.

Grateful for my coworkers who pitched in so I did not have to do all the heavy work that I do and they also do in our jobs.

Grateful that I do not have to wake up and wonder where my next meal, money or place to sleep is.  Thank you God.
