Chances are, your life is over-complicated by all the years spent trying to fill a non-existent hole in your life…instead of seeking more lists and more plans, new clothes and new friends, perhaps look around and consider that you probably already have all the things that you really care about. Cherish the friends you have and wear your favorite shirt to tatters. ~Jessica Stillman in this post

A Whole Lot of Yes!

1.  a whole box of peaches!  oh my!

2.  meeting the fabulous Jean and other amazing people — Ruth and Kylia were there, too!  hooray!

3.  being at the Magical Pine Forest — unique and incredible, inside and out!

4.  seeing “Blue Jasmine” — a Woody Allen movie, weird and kind of wonderful

5.  another movie in two days!  “The Butler” — sometimes hard to watch, but a truly remarkable movie

6.  corn on the cob for dinner!!!!!  one of my top favorites, with a short growing season

7.  making a list of 40 memories for my daughter Maribeth’s 40th birthday

8.  arranging a party for Maribeth with family and friends

9.  when she was still in the crib, she used to sing every morning — “happy, happy, happy, happy . . .” until we woke up and came and got her!

10.  having lunch with my Dad and his precious friend Marlene — there definitely was happiness in the air!

Thank you

  1. My gma bought my daughter a play kitchen today and she LOVES it
  2. Also, a doll stroller, and it already has 1000 miles on it, just from going around and around and around the house
  3. My aunt bought her a baby doll for said stroller, and baby doll has the sweetest disposition- she doesn’t mind being tipped out of the stroller over and over, nor does riding upside down seem to upset her
  4. We took aunt & gma to Chipotle, and now they’re hooked too
  5. My aunt is also vegan, so we’ve been swapping recipes and cooking for each other, and it is an absolute feast at my house

Drives, friends, laughter

  • Enjoying material luxuries. I realized my favorite signs of affluence are: matching bathroom towels in different sizes, lots of artwork and a patio/outdoor space. I bought some discounted (matching) towels and local art.. Now I feel like a million bucks!
  • Being inspired by Crystal’s gorgeous home in the Magical Pine Forest. It’s truly a *HOME*. So cozy, eclectic, and beautifully designed. I can’t imagine her living anywhere less amazing. I was hoping to be snowed in so I wouldn’t have to leave!
  • All of the resources available on YouTube, you can learn anything!
  • My boss’s no-sweat attitude. I tell him I try to make one new mistake everyday, most days I succeed!
  • Sending someone a letter in the mail
  • Car rides with my mom
  • Having a friend for everything. One of my best friends, Fifi, told me when my mom was diagnosed in May “If you want someone to laugh with, call me. If you need humor to help you, call me. A night away, call me. If you need a shoulder to cry on… Call Megan, she’s good at that stuff”. Hahaha!
  • Looking forward to dinner with my mom and her friends on Thursday. It’s kind of great she can’t drive alone anymore so I always get to come along! Her friends laugh so much and have such a wonderful time, you would swear they were drunk.
  • Trying a new food. Kale. It tastes like broccoli + collard greens + spinach and is super easy to prepare
  • The joy of talking to customers at work. This week I met two children immigrant (and their American mom) and learned about the citizenship process. I talked to a man printing pictures of his parents whom his children had never met. He wanted them to know their stories. Took a passport picture for a young man going to live in China for five years (he can’t speak Mandarin, he was a little nervous but very excited). There are so many reasons I love my job

Wishing you meaningful interactions in your day

Lucky

  1. We had a really lucky day
  2. We saw the blimp, which is a lucky sign
  3. Then chased it to it’s hangar, where we watched it land
  4. And take off again!
  5. Then my aunt spotted a barred owl in a tree behind the house
  6. And deer were grazing in the grass below
  7. Any day with my grandma and aunt is lucky indeed
  8. And this one was super-special
  9. What a wonderful world:)
