Thankful vs Grateful

I’m leading a Women’s retreat in November and one session is Thankful and one is Grateful. I tend to use them interchangeably so have been thinking and asking and googling.

Thankful is an action often for people, places and things. Grateful is a feeling . There is no limit on its scope.

Thankful is usually positive reaction although it can be in response to the avoidance of calamity. Grateful is a response straight from the heart to anything heartfelt.

Thankful can be alone or in groups. Grateful is “solo”. (Thanks Crystal!)

Thankful is more structured and sometimes led. Grateful is spontaneous.

I am grateful for my curious mind.

I am grateful to those who love me for and in spite of my enthusiasm.

I am grateful to those who supported me when I was broken and those who missed me when I was gone.

Have a thankful day and be grateful for all you perceive.
